 BASEBALL

Asheboro 20, Northeast Guilford 4

Sam Gore went 4-for-4 at the plate with 4 doubles, 4 runs driven in and 4 runs scored.

Shane Immel had 3 hits with a triple, 2 rbi and 2 runs scored. There were 2 hits each by Reid Sudduth (rbi, 2 runs) and Gavin Allen (double, 2 rbi, run).

Price Kidd started, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks. Kidd struck out 8 batters before turning the mound over to Gore who got the win in relief, giving up 1 hits and 3 walks with 5 strikeouts over 2.2 innings.

Eastern Randolph 12, North Moore 0

Cade McCallum (W, 4 IP, 1 hit, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts) and Landon Albright (1 IP, 1 hit, 3 strikeouts) combined in the shutout win.

The Wildcats got 2 hits each from Carlos Cordero (2 doubles, 4 rbi, 2 runs), Chance Holdaway (2 rbi, run) and Albright (double, rbi, run).

Uwharrie Charter 11, Jordan-Matthews 1

Jaxon Mabe was 3-for-3 with 3 doubles, 3 rbi and 3 runs scored. Jake Hunter had 3 hits with a double and 2 runs scored. The Eagles got 2 hits each from Ty McCauley (triple, 3 rbi, run) and Brody Engle (triple, run).

McCauley was the winning pitcher going six innings with 1 unearned run on 4 hits and 3 walks. McCauley struck out eight. Mabe had 2 strikeouts in one inning of relief.

Northwood 5, SW Randolph 0

The Cougars were held to just 2 hits; singles by Lucas Connor and Carson Coltrane. Elijah Sykes pitched five innings and took the loss.

Providence Grove 10, Wheatmore 0

Andrew Thomas gave up 1 hit and 2 walks in the winning effort. Thomas struck out 15 batters in six innings.

At the plate, Thomas had 3 hits, including 2 doubles, with 2 rbi and 2 runs scored. Conner Haithcock had 2 hits with an rbi and 2 runs. Among the Patriots with single hits were Caden Waugh with a double and an rbi and Colin Duvall who tripled, drove in a run and scored a run.

Hunter Goddard had the Wheatmore hit.

Randleman 5, Central Davidson 4

The Tigers scored all 5 runs in the third inning when Jackson Hill drew a bases-loaded walk and Tate Andrews followed up with a grand slam.

John Kirkpatrick was the winning pitcher working five innings and allowing 4 runs (2 er) on 5 hits and 4 walks with 7 strikeouts. Andrews gave up 2 hits and a walk in 2 innings of relief.

West Davidson 12, Trinity 1

Brody Little and Cohen Wolfe (rbi) had the only hits for Trinity, Peyton Williams started and took the loss (2 IP, 5 runs, 5 hits, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts). Grayson Fauber and Nick Soles also spent time on the mound.

Eastern Guilford 17, Asheboro 16

Eastern Guilford scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to complete the Wildcats comeback and come-from-behind win.

Asheboro had 13 hits led by Shellee Culler with 3 hits (2 doubles, 2 runs scored) and 6 runs driven in; Cora Little had a triple and 3 singles, 4 rbi and 4 runs scored; Kyndall Snipes had 3 hits with a triple, rbi and 2 runs. Single hits by Kayla Basulto who scored 4 runs, Kloe Woody (rbi) and Lydia Scearce (2 runs).

North Moore 16, Eastern Randolph 6

Shelby Williams (triple, 4 rbi, run) and Vivian Underwood (2 runs) had 2 hits each. Hailey Ritter hit a double and scored twice.

Providence Grove 7, East Davidson 6

Campbell Ziemba pitched the complete-game victory giving up 1 earned run on 9 hits with 8 strikeouts.

At the plate, Ziemba had 3 hits with a double and an rbi. Carly Lambert had 2 hits and scored 2 runs and Callie Lambert had 2 hits with 2 rbi. Single hits by Ruby Caudle (double, run), Lara Wiseman (rbi, run) and Baylee Cain (rbi, run).

Randleman 3, Montgomery Central 0

Kinzie Ivey got the win in a complete game no-hitter. Ivey allowed 1 walk against 9 strikeouts in seven innings.

Lilah Covington had an rbi-single in the fifth and Randleman scored twice more in the sixth on a triple by Kaylee Phillips and a ground-out by Ella Rogers which drove in Phillips.

SW Randolph 8, Northwood 4  (9 innings)

The Cougars scored 4 runs in the top of the ninth inning and held no for the win.

There were 3 hits each by Nauttica Parrish (2 doubles, 3 runs) and Bristol Marine (2 rbi). Jada Freeland had 2 hits with 2 rbi. Single hits by Alyssa Harris (2 rbi), Maddie Strider (rbi), Katelyn West and Maylee Strider.

Chloe Eudy started and pitched five innings and Alyssa Harris got the win in four innings of relief.

Uwharrie Charter 9, Jordan-Matthews 7  (8 innings)

The Eagles scored 3 runs in the top of the seventh to tie and 2 in the eighth for the win.

Julia Nelson had 2 hits, a double and a triple, with an rbi and a run scored. Meghan Peters (rbi, run) and Tori Dixon (rbi, run) also had 2 hits each. Aubrie Kaufman and Emory Johnson both drove in 2 runs.

West Davidson 12, Wheatmore 2

Skylar Pittman had a hit and drove in both Wheatmore runs and Lylah Gower had the other Warrior hit. Adalynn Boles gave up 2 earned runs in the loss.

April 16, 2026 - ALUMNI NEWS

Jerquarius Stanback (AHS '24) has migrated west via the NCAA transfer portal. The 6-9 forward has left Alabama State University after two seasons and will be playing for the Boise State University Broncos.

After a redshirt season (2024-25), Stanback started every game this past season and was named thw SWAC Defensive Player of the Year. He will join the Broncos in the Mountain West Conference in the fall.

Morgan Heilig (PG '24) was recognized by USA South Conference among the 2026 All-Conference awards in Women's Golf. A second-year player at Pfeiffer University, Heilig was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team for the 2026 season.

Eastern Randolph 12, Faith Christian 2

Carlos Cordero had 3 hits, with a double, and drove in 4 runs for the Wildcats. He also scored twice. Miles Cox (3 rbi), Landon Albright (double, 2 rbi) and Avery Wright (rbi) all had 2 hits.

Maddox Dunn pitched the five-inning win giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7 batters.

For FCS, Houston Walker and Mason Taylor both hit singles and both produced an rbi with Carter Mustain and Isaac Mathison scoring the runs. Hayden Robbins also recorded a single.

Robbins pitched 3.2 innings and took the loss. He was followed on the mound by Walker and Mathison.

Cameron Hill was the winning pitcher throwing 5.2 innings and giving up 4 runs (3 er) on 8 hits and 2 walks with 6 strikeouts. Grayson Fauber pitched the final 1.1 innings with 1 hits and 3 strikeouts.

Kaylee Phillips was one of 3 Tigers with 3 hits each but lead the way by driving in 7 runs. Phillips recorded a bases-loaded walk, a 2-rbi triple and a pair of 2-rbi singles. Olivia Ashby (2 runs) and Ella Rogers (rbi, run) also had 3 hits.

Kadie Greem had 2 hits and scored twice, Kinzie Ivey had a triple, an rbi and a run and Addyson Dees had a double, an rbi and 2 runs.

April 14, 2026 - SPRING SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has announced the dates and locations for state championships in spring sports.

Championships begin with individual Mens Tennis on May 8-9 followed by team tennis on May 15 & 16.

Mens Golf championships will be determined on May 11-12 and Outdoor Track & Field from May 13-16.

Baseball and Softball championship series will be held May 27-30 and Womens Soccer May 28-30.

Specific venues for some classifications will be determined closer to the championship dates but the options are included in the announcement.

 BASEBALL

Providence Grove 11, Wheatmore 1

Chase Collins was the winning pitcher giving up 1 run on 2 hits and a walk while striking out 11 batters in five innings.

Andrew Thomas had 3 hits for PG including 2 doubles, an rbi and 2 runs scored. There were single hits by Conner Haithcock (triple), Collins (2 rbi), Jacob Flinchum (rbi), Grant Underwood (double, 2 runs) and Will Dabbs (2 rbi).

Lukas Usterbowski (run) and Bentley Mills had hits for Wheatmore. Gavin McPherson took the loss.

Eastern Randolph 10, North Moore 0

Bryson Marley was perfect on the mound in the five-inning game. Marley faced 15 batters and struck out seven.

Seven Wildcats produced 8 runs led by Cade McCallum 2-hit night driving in 1 and scoring 2 runs. Miles Cox had a double and scored a run. Carlos Cordero produced 3 runs with a sacrifice fly and a 2-rbi single. Avery Wright also had a 2-rbi single.

Asheboro 12, Northeast Guilford 2

Daniel Jaimes had 3 hits for Asheboro, including a double, scored a run and drove in 4 others. Gabriel Jaimes also had a double among his 2 hits and produced 2 rbi. Price Kidd had a double, an rbi and scored 2 runs.

Daniel Jaimes was also the winning pitcher allowing 2 runs on 4 hits with 8 strikeouts in the five-inning game.

Central Davidson 2, Randleman 1

Jackson Hill scored on Kyle Dillow's sacrifice fly for the Tigers run. Hill and Gavin Vanonver both had 2 hits in the game.

Jake Riddle pitched the complete game and took the loss giving up 2 runs (1 er) on 4 hits and a walk while striking out 9 batters.

Northwood 5, SW Randolph 4

Northwood scored 2 runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on for the win.

Brady Armfield put the Cougars in fron with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. It was hit 100th career hit. Lucas Connor and Carson Williams had 2 hits each. Grant Kirk and Matthew Blankenship bot hit singles.

Logan Weidman pitched six innings. Lane Poole took the loss in relief.

Trinity 2, West Davidson 1

Ryan Spencer's 100th coaching victory kept his Bulldogs a perfect 7-0 atop the Central Carolina Conference standings.

Brody Little had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in 2 runs in the top of the seventh inning for the come-from-behind win. Peyton Williams had 2 hits; Mason Carter a hit; and Cohen Wolfe and Walker Parrish both had hits and both scored on Little's seventh-inning double.

Lincoln Coble was the winning pitcher (7 IP, 1 run, 5 hits, 2 walks, 9 strikeouts).

Keaton Hill pitched a 1-hitter and struck out 10 batters in six-innings.

Asheboro benefited from numerous walks but only managed 4 hits. Cora Little doubled, had an rbi and scored 3 runs. Shellee Culler had a single and scored twice. Claire Younts singled, drove in a run and scored a run. Madison Hicks had a hit, an rbi and scored 2 runs. Kayla Basulto drew 4 walks and scored 3 runs.

North Moore 16, Eastern Randolph 3

There were single hits by London Hardin, Vivian Underwood and Jersey Jones. Amanda Crabtree, Brooklyn Jones and Jersey Jones each drove in a run with Jones, Jones and Hardin scoring.

Providence Grove 17, Trinity 1

Liz Shoe homered and Callie Lambert had 3 hits (2 doubles) and drove in 6 runs for the Patriots. Lara Wiseman (rbi) and Campbell Ziemba (2 rbi) had 2 hits each,

Trinity's hits came from McKinley Butcher (run), Emily Huneycutt (rbi) and Makyrah Coles.

Lucas Conner had 4 hits (2 doubles) and drove in 5 Cougar runs. Carson Coltrane had 3 hits (double) and scored 3 runs. Elijah Sykes got the 5-inning win with 1 hit. 1 unearned run, 2 walks and 7 strikeouts.

Mykel Duncan led off the game with a Thomasville single, stole second and scored on an error on a ball hit by Bryan Serrano-Rodriguez.

WCD scored first and held Wheatmore to 1 run on 1 hit.

Kaline Burr-Ellis had 3 hits and 3 rbi with 1 run scored for WCD. Ricardo Velez had 2 hits with a double and Joseph Hinojos 2 hits, a double and 3 rbi.

Burr-Ellis got the complete game win with 2 runs (1 er) on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 9 batters in seven innings.

Thomasville's hits were provided by Travail Barnes (rbi), Manny Serrano, Luis Sosa and Axel Dominguez.

South Stokes 9, Providence Grove 5

The Sauras jumped out to a 5-0 lead and forced the Patriots to play catch-up.

Adi Johnson (2 runs) and Cailyn York (2 doubles, 2 rbi, run) had 2 hits each for Providence Grove. Carly Lambert had 1 hit, a double,  and 3 rbi. Lara Wiseman pitched the complete game and took the loss.

Arren Booth had 2 hits for South Stokes with 2 rbi, Ellie White hit 2 doubles and collected 2 rbi. Marissa Crandall and Melin Bullins bot had triples and 1 rbi each.

Randleman 7, North Stanly 2

Natalie Roach had 2 hits with a double and 4 rbi for the Tigers. There were single hits by Kadie Green, Teanna Bostick and Kaylie St John.

Aiyana Hunt got the complete game win giving up 2 runs (1 er) on 6 hits and 3 walks with 4 strikeouts in seven innings.

Leah Isenhour (rbi, run) and Karleigh Wittman (rbi) had 2 hits each for the Comets.

SW Randolph 4, HP Christian 3

Kami Dunn and Jada Freeland were both 3-for-3 at the plate. Trailing 2-0, Freeland started the Cougar comeback with a hit to the outfield which ultimately allowed C Eudy to score on and error in the fourth inning. In the fifth, Kami Dunn hit a 3-run home run driving in Nauttica Parrish and Bristol Marine for a 4-2 lead.

Katelyn West pitched the seven-inning win.

High Point Christian got home runs from Allie Winfree (2 rbi) and Kerri Langfitt (solo). Blakely Bowman had 2 hits and finished the 3-day event going 9-for-10 at the plate.

Providence Grove 12, Union Pines 3

Union Pines led from the first inning but Providence Grove plated 8 runs in the sixth and four in the seventh for the win.

Chase Collins had 3 hits with a double, 3 rbi and a run scored. Jacob Flinchum (double, 3 rbi) and Bishop Moore (run) had 2 hits each. Single hits by Andrew Thomas (triple, rbi, 2 runs), Caden Waugh (double, rbi, run) and Grant Underwood (double, rbi, 2 runs).

Thomas pitched six innings for the win. Bryson Arrington faced 3 batters in the seventh.

Randleman 9, Southern Nash 7

The Tigers scored 5 runs in the top of the seventh inning for the come-from-behind win.

There were 2 hits each by Jake Riddle (double, 3 runs), Kyle Dillow (triple, 3 rbi, run), Jackson Hill (rbi, run) and Tate Andrews (rbi, run). Single hits by Ashton Poe (run) and Gavin Vanonver (rbi).

Poe earned the win in relief of Dillow and Andrews.

Uwharrie Charter 12, Salem HS (VA) 1

The Eagles took advantage of numerous errors to prevail in five innings.

Jake Hunter (double, 4 rbi, 3 runs), Rusty Wheless (2 runs) and Keaton Hill had 2 hits each. Single hits by Andyn Wright (2 rbi) and Wilson Boswell (double, rbi).

Keaton Hill was the winning pitcher giving up 2 hits in four shut-out innings. Wheless pitched the fifth inning.

Croatan 4, Eastern Randolph 3

Cade McCallum had 2 Wildcat hits. Single hits by Bryson Marley (run), Maddox Dunn (run) and Chance Holdaway (triple, 3 rbi).

Community School of Davidson 12, Trinity 3

CSD scored the final 8 runs of the game to break away from their 4-3 lead after five innings.

Brody Little and Nick Soles had back-to-back solo home runs for the Bulldogs. Peyton Williams had 2 hits and scored a run. Cameron Hill and Indiana Hill bit hit doubles.

Lincoln Coble pitched five innings and took the loss.

Spring Valley HS (WV) 17, Wheatmore 1

Greyson Atkinson had 2 hits for the Warriors. There were single hits by Hunter Goddard (rbi) and Gavin McPherson.

Five pitchers spent time on the mound trying to slow down the Timberwolves offense.

Parker Phillips had 2 hits, both doubles, driving in 4 runs and scoring twice for Spring Valley.

Southeast Alamance 9, SW Randolph 0

The Cougars never got on track offensively with a double by Lucas Connor and singles by Brady Armfield and Owen Allmon. Logan Weidman pitched 4.1 innings and took the loss.

Paxton Piccini led the way for Southeast going 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and 2 runs scored. Piccini also struck out 7 batters in the complete game win.

Westchester Country Day 2, Asheboro 1

Asheboro scored in the third when Reid Suddeth drove in Shane Immel with a single. Westchester tied the game in the fifth with an rbi triple by Ashton Pittman which scored Ricky Velez. Then a run by Sawyer Pugh with 1 out in the bottom of the seventh inning resulted in the walk-off win by WCDS.

Immel had 2 hits for the Blue Comets including a double. Suddeth's hit and a single by Price Kidd were the other Asheboro hits. Daniel Jaimes took the loss.

Randleman 6, Providence Grove 2

Kadie Green had 3 hits with a triple and 3 runs scored for Randleman. Addyson Dees had 2 hits, an rbi and scored 2 runs and Ella Rogers had a 2-rbi hit and scored. Single hits by Kaylee Phillips (rbi), Kinzie Ivey (double, rbi) and Aiyana Hunt (triple).

Rogers got the complete game win with 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks with 7 strikeouts.

Campbell Ziemba hit a solo home run and drove in the second Patriot run on a gound-out. She also suffered the loss surrendering 3 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4 in four innings. Lara Wiseman pitched the final two innings.

HP Christian 10, North Stanly 0

Blakely Bowman went 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored to lead the HPCA Cougars' 14-hit game. Kerri Langfitt had 2 hits and 5 rbi.

Paisley Dixon and Bella Dill split time in the circle with Dixon getting the win.

The highlight for North Stanly was a triple-play in the third inning with HPCA runners on first and second. Comets shortstop Sammie Lowder snagged a line drive, threw to Lainey Bowers to double off the runner at second and Bowers relayed the ball to Emma Sanders for the third out at first base.

SW Randolph 11, South Stokes 1

Bristol Marine had a single, double and a triple for the Cougars, driving in 4 runs and scoring another. Nauttica Parrish had 2 hits with an rbi and 3 runs scored. There were single hits by Maddie Strider (rbi, run), Katelyn West (double, rbi, run), Alyssa Harris (rbi, run), Maylee Strider (rbi, run) and Sara-Kate Marion (rbi, 2 runs).

Alyssa Harris pitched a complete game no-hitter allowing 1 unearned run on 4 walks with 3 strikeouts.

A lead-off walk to Jackson Hill in the bottom of the eighth inning eventually led to the game-ending run for the Tigers.

Hill led the offense with 2 hits (double), 3 rbi and 2 runs scored. There were single hits by Jake Riddle (3 runs), Ashton Poe (run), Kyle Dillow (rbi), Gavin Vanonver (double, run) and Carter Heath (rbi, run).

John Kirkpatrick started (5 IP, 5 runs, 4 hits, 4 walks, 8 strikeouts) then gave way for Dillow to begin the sixth and Tate Andrews pitched the final 2.2 innings and got the win allowing 2 hits with 1 strikeout.

Uwharrie Charter 3, Union Pines 2

Ty McCauley earned the win allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks with 6 strikeouts. Keaton Hill struck out 2 batters in one inning of relief.

Jaxon Mabe had 2 hits with a double and a triple and 2 runs scored. Single hits by Levi Mitchell (rbi, run) and Jake Hunter.

Martin County 12, Eastern Randolph 3

The Wildcats led 2-0 after one inning but the Gators had big innings with 5 runs in the third, 4 in the sixth and 3 runs in the seventh.

Carlos Cordero went 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple and an rbi. Bryson Marley had 2 hits with a run and an rbi. Single hits by Maddox Dunn (rbi, run), Chance Holdaway (run), Miles Cox and Isaiah Batchelor. Landon Albright pitched five innings and took the loss. Levi Stalker worked two innings of relief.

Trevor Kirkman pitched a complete game and took the loss giving up 5 runs (1 er) on 7 hits with 3 strikeouts.

Kidd struck out 12 in the complete game win.

Ruby Caudle hit a 2-run home run to tie the game in the fourth inning and Cailyn York put the Patriots ahead 5-3 with a 2-run shot in the fifth inning. Campbell Ziemba went seven innings for the win giving up 4 runs (3 er) on 8 hits and 2 walks with 9 strikeouts.

Leah Isenhour had 3 hits for the comets with a double, rbi and a run scored. Two hits each by Lainey Bowerd (double, rbi) and Sammie Lowder (double, rbi, run). Hayden Hicks pitched seven innings and took the loss.

SW Randolph 9, Randleman 8

Katelyn West had 3 hits – a double and 2 home runs - for the Cougars, driving in 3 runs and scoring two. Kami Dunn had 2 hits with a triple and a home run, driving in 4 and scoring twice.

Along with West, there were doubles by Maddie Strider (2), Alyssa Harris, Bristol Marine and Sara-Kate Marion.

Chloe Eudy pitched the first five innings before giving way to Maylee Strider who got the win in two innings of relief.

Kaylee Phillips singled, tripled and homered for Randleman producing 4 rbi and 3 runs scored. Addyson Dees went 3-for-3 and scored 3 runs and Kinzie Ivey had 2 doubles and 3 rbi. Dees was the second of 3 pitchers and took the loss.

The Patriots scored 3 in the first inning with 6 more in the fourth and 1 in the sixth.

The winning pitcher was Chase Collins who gave up 2 hits and a walk with 9 strikeouts in five innings before giving way to Bryson Arrington.

Collins also had 3 hits with a double, 2 rbi and 2 runs scored. There were 2 hits by Andrew Thomas (rbi, 2 runs) and Colin Duvall (2 rbi). Single hits by Jacob Flinchum (rbi, 2 runs), Grant Underwood (double, run), Bishop Moore (rbi, run) and Conner Haithcock.

Pinecrest 11, Uwharrie Charter 1

An 8-run third inning set up Pinecrest for the win.

UCA got single hits from Jake Hunter (rbi), Jaxon Mabe and Ty McCauley (double). Hunter took the loss with Mabe, Brody Engle and Andyn Wright sharing duties on the mound.

West Stanly 9, Randleman 3

Five runs in the sixth inning allowed West Stanly to pull away from the Tigers.

John Kirkpatrick had 2 hits with an rbi. Single hits by Jackson Hill (run), Lincoln Lawson (rbi, run) and Gavin Vanonver (rbi). Jake Riddle pitched 5.2 innings and took the loss. Ashton Poe worked the final 1.1 innings.

The Wildcats scored 3 runs in the top of the seventh and held on for the win.

Bryson Marley had 3 hits with a double and 2 rbi while Miles Cox went 2-for-2 with 2 walks, a run scored and drove in the final run. Landon Albright also had 2 hits (double, run) with single hits by Cade McCallum (rbi, run), Carlos Cordero (double, run) and Maddox Dunn.

CSD broke a 1-1 tie with 7 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Eli Brake gave up 9 hits but only 1 run in earning the win,

Walker Parrish singled and scored on a 2-out hit by Dylan Hunt in the top of the fourth inning. Nick Soles had 3 hits with single hits by Brody Little, Cameron Hill, Grayson Fauber and Cohen Wolfe. Peyton Williams took the loss.

Wake County Home Ed 8, Western Alamance 1

Wake County Homeschool started hot with 3 runs, 2 runs and 1 run in the first three innings aided by home runs by Hampton Hawley (1 runner on) and Jack Conley (solo). Seth Pennica and Zachary Peacock contributed triples in the 9-hit attack.

Western got 2 hits by Frederick Harrelson, Jr, a double by Dawson Boysel with a run scored, Weston Greene drove in a run and Mason Buzzard delivered a single.

Western Alamance 13, Winston-Salem Christian 0

A 10-run second inning put Western Forsyth in front to stay.

Nine players had hits for the Warriors led by Frederick Harrelson, Jr (double, 2 rbi, 2 runs) and Weston Greene (rbi, run). Also with doubles were Dawson Boysei, Gaven Davis and Hayden Wheeler. Davis pitched four of the shut-out innings walking 4 and striking out 4 batters.

Brett Bullins had the only hit, a double, for Winston-Salem Christian.

Spring Valley HS (WV) 1, Southeast Alamance 0

Jake Vanarsdale gave up 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7 in the complete game win for the Timberwolves from Huntington, WV.

Vanarsdale and Brody Spencer both had 2 hits with doubles while Parker Phillips doubled and scored on a hit by Cam Perdue for the only run.

The Stallions got single hits from Aidan Amick, Auden Brown and Brayden Robbins. Brown pitched 5.2 innings and took the loss.


April 4, 2026 - ALUMNI NEWS

Makayla McClain (PG '22) tied the Appalachian State softball record with her 17th home run of the season on March 29th and broke that record Thursday leading off the first inning when the Mountaineers played at Marshall University.

McClain's 18th home run broke the previous record originally set in 2009. There are 14 games left on the ASU regular season schedule.

Williams (2 home runs, 3 rbi, 3 runs) and Walker Parrish (rbi, 2 runs) had 3 hits each. There were 2 hits by Indiana Hill (home run, rbi, run), Cameron Hill (run), Fauber (double, 3 rbi) and Brody Little.

In a pitchers dual which saw 3 total runs and 5 total hits, Maddox Dunn came up on the short end and took the complete game loss. Dunn gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks with 9 strikeouts.

The 2 Wildcat hits included a pair of Levi Stalker doubles and a single by Bryson Marley.

Southern Alamance 3, Asheboro 2

Asheboro scored 1 in the bottom of the seventh but the game ended with the tying runner still at third base.

Nine runs in the top of the seventh inning turned a 9-8 Blue Comets lead into an 18-8 advantage which was enough to secure a season split with the Bulldogs.

Thirteen hits by Asheboro were all singles with Shellee Culler going 3-for-4 with an rbi and a run scored. Cora Little had 2 hits and drove in 5 runs while scoring 3 times.
